Our hero, commitment-phobic, newspaper drama critic, Mortimer Brewster has to decide whether to follow up on his promise to marry to Elaine. Upon returning to the family home, he discovers his seemingly eccentric family is actually homicidally insane. It includes two spinster aunts who have taken to murdering lonely old men by poisoning them as an act of charity; a brother who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt and digs locks for the Panama Canal in the cellar; and a murderous brother who has received plastic surgery performed by an alcoholic accomplice. Then the police get involved...
